Josh was born in the city of Klang. He was officially named Ng Yi Xuan (黄以宣), but his parents have also always called him Joshua. When he went to the USA for his studies, the Americans tended to shorten his name to Josh. (He is okay with being called either Josh or Joshua.)
Blessed to be born to a Christian household, Josh worshiped at Klang Presbyterian Church during his childhood and teenage years. He was mostly homeschooled. For a long time, he dreamed of becoming a film director and screenwriter, but he was later prodded towards a love and burden for Christian ministry.
Josh studied history at Geneva College (Beaver Falls, PA), where he met Lindsey. After they got married, they moved to Grand Rapids, MI, so that Josh could study at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary. During their time there, they worshiped at Reformation OPC, a church which provided much guidance and care for Josh as he prepared for pastoral ministry.
In 2023, Josh graduated from seminary with an MDiv and began serving CDPC Puchong as their pastor.
Josh and Lindsey have been blessed with two dear children, Levi Edwards Ng (黄利未) and Chloe Nadzieja Ng (黄洁雅).
Josh’s favorite activity is probably thinking while pacing. He also loves reading, writing, choral music, football/futsal, and chess.
